Battleyolk: Eye Candy

Did you want to see what Battleyolk looks like on the table? Of course you did.

So far, I have only run one-on-one, omelet-on-omelet action, which fits a 3three megg force against a three megg force in a battle to the last man standing.

I’ve been playing EXTREME MODE, which it doesn’t offer a lot of opportunity for melee combat. The ovalbots are just too darn fragile to get to risk the damage that is guaranteed to accrue to the attacker to make the tactic worth while.

Playing on EXTREME MODE also means your shell gets cracked right about the same time as the heat results in a self-hard boiling.  With only half the hit points available, typically only have one or two chances to roll for heat related injuries, and you don’t have enough hit points to survive the process of running to a safe corner of the battlefield to let off a little steam.

No, I’m not a giant, fighty robot kind of gamer, so I can’t tell you if this is typical of the genre.  Maybe I’m just now discovering well known joys of balancing heat and damage and an aggressive pursuit of the victory objectives. Maybe you have already explored this balancing act, and you think of me naive. Whatever. It’s a fun little game, and if you like giant robot combat, you should give it a look.
