Ikwen Recruits

These figures languished on my table for over three years. The image above are the specialist figures added to the collection in this round.

They are called the Ikwen, and with the addition of the squad shown above, my force is now have three 12-man units of regular infantry.  Each unit has a different colored loincloth, although these are lizard aliens so I’m not sure why they need loin.

You can get them in 15 mm and 25 mm from Alternative Armies.

These are heavy weapon/vehicle assault troops.  In addition to these bazooka style figures, I have five or six bomb throwers.  That gives me a heavy weapons team to add to the closest assault/melee specialist fanatic squad.

And here’s where they live when they’re not fighting and dying on the tabletop.

More importantly, I’m getting more comfortable with painting miniatures despite having no depth perception. This was the most difficult series of painting sessions I’ve had in a long time. Having to relearn a skill that you were pretty darn good at can be very discouraging. This is probably the thing that will trigger getting my eye fixed and getting depth perception back – having to re-re-learn to paint. It’s the way of the world, and it’s fine. My burden is light.
