The table has been looking pretty good these days. In lieu of word content, how about some pretty pictures?
First up are a couple shots of Alternative Armies’ in-house skirmish set, DarkeStorme. 
And a couple shots of an example of the Hellmarch rules. It’s a reskin and simplification of Chainmail that is easy to segue from TRRPG mode to miniature wargaming mode.
You can play a big fight like this out in about an hour, leaving plenty of time for the rest of your RPG session.
